Cambodia-China Trade Reaches Up to $9 Billion in Ten Months

PHNOM PENH: According to statistics released by the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, trade between Cambodia and China, on both ways, has reached a total of $8,9 billion from January until October this year. It’s a 38.56% increase compared to 2020.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce Pen Sovicheat, has stated the increase in bilateral trade between both countries means the economy and cooperation between the nations has strengthened, despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

Compared to 2020, the Kingdom of Cambodia has exported 49% more, summing $1,2 billion at the first ten months of the year. At the same period, Cambodia has imported from China a total worthen $7,7 billion, reaching 37% more in comparison to the previous year.

Investments and general trade is predicted to booster between China and Cambodia due to recent talks on reaching an agreement for bilateral free trades between the nations, starting in 2022.
